Call for Papers: CAP 2024 Spring Meeting

Theme: “Charting a New Course for Caribbean Pharmacy”

The Caribbean Association of Pharmacists (CAP), hosts meetings every February, May, November, and the Annual Convention in August. These meetings provide opportunities for networking, sharing new ideas, troubleshooting common challenges, and laying the ground for career development and the advancement of pharmacy and by extension, healthcare in the Caribbean. This year’s CAP Spring Meeting will be from the 17th -19th May 2024, with CE sessions delivered on the Saturday and Sunday in a hybrid format. It is greatly advised that presenters who wish to do presentations would have to acquire sponsorship to fund the entire cost of their trip.

CAP aims to provide Continuing Pharmacy Education of the highest quality and relevance for pharmacists working in a multidisciplinary landscape. We invite educators and pharmacists to join us by submitting abstracts for Continuing Education Plenaries or Research Papers for a duration of one hour.

Due Dates:

Persons interested in presenting at the CAP Spring Meeting 2024 are encouraged to submit their abstracts by 24st March, 2024.   

Abstracts and CVs for proposed plenaries/workshops/research papers should be submitted using the CAP Meeting Abstract Submission form at: https://forms.gle/YWVJ71F4pTSCoyB79

These may also be filled out and returned via email, along with the Curriculum Vitae (CV) of the presenter.

Presentation Timing:

The following describes the allotted time for CE presentations:  

  • CE Lectures (plenaries) are allotted 60 minutes each: 
    • Lecture – 50 minutes, and 
    • Q&A – 10 minutes.
  • Workshops are allotted 2 hours each: 
    • Workshop/Practice session – 1 hour 40 minutes 
    • Q&A – 20 minutes 
  • Research presentations are allotted 60 minutes each:  
    • Basic review of the key background concepts (e.g., medication adherence, a summary of background literature) – 20 mins
    • Research summary (rationale, objectives, methods, findings, and discussion) – 30 minutes, and Q&A – 10 minutes.

Presenters should allow 3-5 minutes during the session for participants to answer polls or quiz items. Presenters will also be asked to prepare 10 content-related questions for the post-CE quiz.

  • Keeping pharmacy settings safe, especially in infectious disease outbreaks
  • Falsified medical products
  • Strengthening supply chains in a changing world.
  • Patient Education /managing misinformation in the healthcare system.
  • Pharmacy Informatics/use of technology/social media in advancing the practice 
  • Pharmacogenomics 
  • Pharmacoeconomics 
  • Pharmacy Research 
  • The role of implementation science in Pharmacy Practice
  • How can healthcare professionals get involved in Climate change?
  • Integrating Pharmacy practice into healthcare delivery
  • The role of Pharmacists and healthcare professionals in Global Health
